Obagi Blue Peel
This combined acid peel helps to brighten mild pigmentation, improves active acne and helps with an all over skin rejuvenation. The blend of acids used are Salicylic Acid (20%), Glycolic Acid (1.6%), Lactic Acid (1.4%).
This helps to boost the skins radiance and is suitable for all skin typed and tones and helps to lighten Post inflammatory pigmentation.
This is a quick and effective treatment and can be tailored as the practitioner can increase the number of layers to increase the penetration of the acids and the potency of the peel.
The combination of Alpha hydroxy acids and Beta Hydroxy acids work on different layers of the epidermis, The salicylic is oil soluble and is pulled into the pore to help kill the P acne bacteria and absorb the excess oil. The glycolic and lactic acid are attracted to the water content in the skin and help to slough away the stratum corneum. In having both approaches in this one peel you can achieve a more complete result.
Your skin will be cleansed and then prepared with a solution to start to adjust the skins Ph in readiness for the peel. On your first visit a single layer of the peel will be applied and over the course of treatments this can be increased to three layers given a deeper peel. The peel will then be neutralised and removed with cool soft gauze and water. To soothe the skin a mask will be applied and kept on for up to 10 minutes. The treatment will be concluded by an application of repair cream and sunscreen. Aftercare information will be verbally provided and sent via email.
You may feel a warm or hot sensation and tingling or mild stinging which is completely normal we would describe it as an active sensation. It should not be painful and be a completely manageable experience.
The downtime for this treatment is completely dependant on the strength of the treatment delivered and the skin type however it can be from 24-72 hours and can include temporary dehydration of the skin, mild erythema and flaking.
This peel is excellent for oily skins, photodamaged skins or thickened skins. It can be performed on all skin types however on a very dry skin we would advise an alternate treatment.
If you follow all of the aftercare provided there should be no side effects however adverse reactions can occur which is why it is so important to have a thorough consultation to ensure there are no contraindications that would prevent you having the treatment such as allergies.
