Nail Fungus Laser Treatment
Nail fungus is a condition when discolouration under the tip of the finger or toenail appears, normally as a white or yellow spot. In most cases your nail looks discoloured, thick and crumbles at the edge.
Nail Fungus is easy to spot, but difficult to treat. While traditional treatments such as medications and topical creams have limited success and lengthy treatment durations, the breakthrough Harmony XL pro solution, combines two clinically proven laser technologies of Q-switch Nd:Yag and Long-pulsed Nd:yag to effectively target the source of infection under the nail and deliver visible result in a few short sessions.
The combination of Q-switch and Long-pulsed Nd:Yag lasers deliver high repetition rate and short pulse duration to create gradual heating.
The energy used in Nd:YAG lasers is intended to be absorbed by the micro-organism located on the nail bed, based on the principle of selective photothermolysis. Light energy is converted to thermal energy to deactivate the fungi cells and spores without damaging the nail plate.
During your consultation, we will discuss your treatment goals and expectations, assess the nails that need treatment, and develop a treatment plan. You will complete a medical history form and sign consent documents, and pre-treatment photographs will be taken. Before the treatment begins, your nails will be cleaned with alcohol. The lasers will then be applied to the affected nails. After the procedure, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions, including hygiene advice and tips for laundering socks and disinfecting shoes.
We recommend a course of 6 treatments to ensure we have fully eradicated the unwanted micro-organism, however, this will be discussed upon consultation after looking at the severity of the condition.
Treatment frequency for fungal nail infections is every 2-3 weeks.

The following contraindications may possibly stop you form having fungal nail treatment:
- Skin cancer
- Use of systemic anti fungal therapy in the last 6 months
- Pregnancy
- Use of nail colouring dyes that have change the nail colour
- Nail pigmentation caused by existence of bacterial nail infection
- Existence of concomitant nail disorders such as psoriasis of the nail plate, atopic dermatitis
